John Pilkington was one of 43 casualties of the 2nd Battalion, South Lancashire Regiment who died on the 20th and 21st September 1914.
His medal index card confirms that his sister, Miss S. A. Pilkington applied for her deceased brother’s medals and the the family address was 25 Clinton Street, Blackburn, Lancashire. The MIC records that he Died of Wounds 21st September 1914.
