William Hynds took part, with the Seaforth Highlanders, served in the Chitral Campaign, The Nile Expedition 1898 and the Occupation of Crete 1897. His papers, which are on-line, confirm his award of this Relief of Chitral Medal, the Sudan Medal and the Khedive’s Sudan Medal with The Atbara and Khartoum clasps.He spent over 2 years in India, spent time in Malta, Crete, East Indies and his time in Egypt was in excess of 5 years.
Born in Barony, Glasgow he was a 19 year old labourer when he enlisted in 1893.
