Great War British War Medal named to 1465 PTE. D. PURVES 2-DNS.

Donald Purves was a 19 year old Butcher, born St Giles, Edinburgh when he attested in 1907.

He entered France 17th August 1914. He was later renumbered 41838 (MGC) and is noted Died 6th November 1918 on his Medal index Card.

Purves transferred to the Machine Gun Corps 27th June 1916, renumbered 41838 and he was wounded 28th March 1918.

He died in hospital and is noted as having a Bullet wound to the left ankle this led to his death caused by pneumonia.

Donald Purves is buried and Remembered with Honour at Bear Road, Brighton City Cemetery, Sussex.
