James Steel of  Hillcrest, Mary, St Laurieston, Falkirk, was 25 years old when he was discharged with wounds on the 18th June 1918. He was discharged with Silver War Badge number B15902, which is present with this group. Steel enlisted 27th March 1912. His Medal Index Card confirms he served as  11107 Pte Royal Scots and the 18342 Pte. Machine Gun Corps. His SWB is on the MGC/377 roll. The Machine Gun Corps rolls for the Star and the Pair also confirm these medals.
