Anglo Boer War pair of medals consisting of a Queen’s South Africa Medal with Cape Colony clasp and Wittebergen clasp named to: 2378 PTE. E. MALLET 1. HIGH. L. I. and King’s South Africa Medal with South Africa 1901 and 1902 clasps named to 2378. PTE. E. MALLETT. HIGHLAND L. I.

Edward Mallett attested in 1886 at Hamilton. He was 21 years old and was born in Lowestoft, Norfolk. He had served very briefly with the 13th Hussars (27 days).

His service duration counted as 13 years, his first period of service was forfeited for desertion in 1889 as can be seen in the attached images of his service papers. The QSA has Ghost Dates and note the miss-spelt surname on his QSA. There is damage to the suspender of the KSA.
