Anglo Boer war and Great War medal group of 4 to an Essex Regiment Drummer later promoted to Serjeant in the Great War.
Medal roll for the Anglo Boer War medals confirm that the ABW pair were officially re-issued on repayment dated 11th July 1911, 4 months prior to his marriage at Bordon Army Camp, Hampshire in 1912.
He was admitted 5th July 1916 at 2nd General Hospital, 5 days after the beginning of the Battle of the Somme. He had gun shot wounds thigh and buttocks.
He was discharged with Silver War Badge 168415, enlisted 19th September 1899 discharged 3rd May 1917.
Born 1883, he died in Stepney 1928.
