Egypt Medal 1882 with Tel-El-Kebir Clasp Scots Guards
named to: 5257 LCE. CORPL. T. FOGGO. 1 / SCOTS GDS.
This medal has obviously been worn against the Khedive’s Star and has suffered the rubbing and pitting that is seen on many Egypt Medals, as is clear on the photograph images.
Thomas Drysdale FOGGO was an 18 year old Clerk, born in Haddington, Scotland, when he attested into the Scot’s Guards in December 1880.
His papers state that he had already served in the Police by the time of his attestation.
His award of the Egypt Medal with Tel-El-Kebir Clasp and the Khedive’s Star is confirmed on his papers. He was awarded the Anglo Boer War Queen’s South Africa Medal where he served as Company Sergeant Major.
He is recorded on the QSA Medal Roll as Died, Chievely, Natal 25th February 1900, aged 42 years
