Egypt Medal and Khedive’s Star Commissariat Corps

Egypt Medal named to: 4714 PTE S. CHUDLEIGH. C & T.C.

Sidney Chudleigh was a 19 year old labourer, born Bridestowe, Okehampton, Devon when he attested into the Commissariat and Transport Corps in December 1882.He served for 12 years. He is on the medal roll for the Egypt Medal with The Nile 1884-5 Clasp and Kirkeban Clasp, hence price.

He re-enlisted for Great War service in 1917. When he re-enlisted he was living at 74 Belgrave Road, Torquay, Devon and he was a 55 year old painter at the time. His papers confirm that his previous service was as 4714 C & T Corps – time expired. He served as Sapper 331975 but did not qualify for any medals.

He died in Totnes, Devon on the 15th February 1936.
