The QSA with Defence of Ladysmith Clasp and Belfast Clasp and King’s South Africa Medal with SA1901 and SA1902 Clasps in named to John Thomas Connett was born in St Marys Major, Exeter, Devon. He was an 18 year old tinsmith when he attested into the Devonshire Regiment. He served for circa 15 years and apart from his service in South Africa, he also served in India for 6 years. The medal rolls for the 1st Battalion, Devonshire Regiment confirms this entitlement.
