China Medal 1842 HMS BLENHEIM

Correctly named to THOMAS FELTHAMĀ  H.M.S. BLENHEIM

Confirmed on Medal Roll. He was issued the medal whilst serving at H.M.S. Excellent.

Thomas Feltham was born in Woolwich, 13th February 1816, baptised at St. Mary Magdalene, Woolwich on 24th March 1816. Naval Allotments and records show that he served, amongst others, on H.M.S. Rodney, H.M.S. Blenheim, H.M.S. Excellent and H.M.S. Cleopatra. Census record him living with his Wife in Portsmouth, Hampshire. He spent some time ill at Royal Naval Hospital Haslar. He is recorded later in his naval career as a Gunner’s Mate and it is possible that he later joined the Royal Marines Artillery.

He died 6th January 1852 at the address of his father, also Thomas Feltham a Retired carpenter/Warrant Officer Royal Navy.
