Afghanistan Medal 1878-80 with Ahmed Khel clasp to a Private of the 59th Regiment of Foot.
Joseph Wilbourne served 21 years in the 59th Foot. He served 1 yr 199 days in the Cape of Good Hope, 10 years in the East Indies and 18 moths in Afghanistan. In addition to this campaign medal he was awarded the medal for Long Service and Good Conduct.
A native of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire he enlisted 30th July 1859. His papers can be found under the misspelled name Wilburn (see downloaded copies here).
